Sometimes a person's life begins with the courage of another person. Someone's "yes" answer means another heart beating, a breath returning. In order to share this sense of hope and humanism, an educational meeting was organized at the Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL) at the initiative of the Coordination Center for Organ Donation and Transplantation of the Ministry of Health.
The event was opened by the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of International Relations and Regional Studies of AUL, Doctor of Philosophy in History, Associate Professor Namig Karimov. In his speech, he spoke about the value of human life and the greatness of sharing and said: "Organ donation is not just a medical procedure, it is the purest and most valuable gift that a person gives to another person. This step is an expression of compassion, humanity and love of life."
Speaking next, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Coordination Center Gunay Abbasova emphasized that the concept of donation is not only related to health in society, but also to spiritual integrity:
“The decision of one donor can give a new life to several people. This is the highest indicator of humanity.”
Mehriban Aliyeva, the Center’s doctor-coordinator, also spoke at the event, touching upon the importance of donation, shared interesting facts from international experience, and spoke about the work being done in this direction in Azerbaijan.
Throughout the meeting, students joined the discussions with great interest and sincerity. They raised interesting questions about the medical and legal aspects of donation. Representatives of the Center answered each question with attention and understanding, focusing on the value of life and encouraging students to think.
At the end of the meeting, an educational video clip was shown showing that organ donation gives a person hope and the strength to live.
At the end of the event, a group of students signed a consent application approved by the Board of the Ministry of Health to become donors after death. Because every signature is the beginning of a hope, every decision is the beginning of a life.
